THE NATIONAL MINERALS AGENCY – SIERRA LEONE The National Minerals Agency (NMA) is a regulatory Agency responsible for promoting the sustainable development of Sierra Leone’s mineral sector; collecting, managing and disseminating geo-scientific data and information; implementing mining laws and regulations; managing mineral rights; regulating the trading of minerals; and promoting the rights of mining communities. The Agency was established in 2012, to ensure transparent and accountable management of the minerals sector, which builds investor confidence to make long-term investments. The ultimate objective is to ensure that all Sierra Leoneans derive maximum benefits from the country’s mineral resources.
